Faculty Spotlight – Joseph Judge ’87
Meet Joseph Judge 鈥�87, Pfeiffer鈥檚 Director of Choral Activities and Assistant Professor of Music. Judge has been teaching at Pfeiffer for 15 years! He teaches a variety of music classes, including Voice Lessons, Vocal & Choral Methods, Conducting courses, Foreign Language Diction for Singers, Intro to Music Ministry, and more. He also oversees all choral ensembles and directs the University Singers.
Judge comes from a family who loves and appreciates the music and arts, and he has been singing his entire life. He has fond memories of his mother taking his family to see the Nutcracker ballet every holiday season. His early love for music, along with his high school choral teacher, is what influenced him to study music as a Pfeiffer student.
When asked what he would like for his students to take away from his classes, Judge said, 鈥淏ecause I teach both Music Majors and non-majors, I hope students learn to appreciate a wide variety of music, and that music making is a learned skill and discipline just like playing soccer or baseball.鈥�
Throughout his musical career, Judge has sung opera and musical theater at the professional level and has performed numerous concerts and recitals in the United States and Europe. He has also taken choirs to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Several of his former voice students are also performing professionally around the country.
